Crossing the checkered flag in the race to end Alzheimer’s in his “1938 Chevy Coupe”,8 Ball fights for the cure. Jim Hartmann, spinning his wheels, found himself in the fight to hold on to his memories, forgetting much of his life, but always remembering his ol’ girl, 8 Ball. “There she is”, he would say, as another race would jog his fading mind. Jim, a family man with six children, left his mark, working masonry, paving city streets, volunteering 27 years on the Paynesville Fire Department, where he took part in purchasing the first automatic fire truck and building the Paynesville fire station that is still used to date. Jim cut ice off of Lake Koronis in the family business, “Hartmann Ice”, serving people all around, keeping coolers stocked and ice in their lemonades before refrigeration. When not putting calluses on his hands, Jim was going fast, kicking up dirt, and taking first place in his beloved 8 Ball. Hundreds gathered on Saturday nights to smell the gasoline, hear the engines roar, and watch the crashes. With Alzheimer’s defeating Jim’s mind, he never forgot who his ol’ girl was, sparking his memory, keeping his tires spinning. Alzheimer’s is the longest and slowest goodbye, and with that, Jim passed away in 2019 at the age of 91. But Jim’s legend wasn’t over, as the legendary 8 Ball still races to find the cure for the disease that waved its final checkered flag for her ol’ man. Follow 8 Ball and help find the cure for Alzheimer’s for good by scanning the QR code and donating to the cause. Let 8 Ball steer your mind and heart into raising awareness and through Jim’s story, and his beloved ol’ girl, and may his mind not have faded in vain. PLEASE DONATE AS IT IS URGENT TO HELP US FIND “THE RACE FOR THE CURE” Thank you so kindly!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Jim’s Family & Pit Crew 💜
